Hoarding Disorder - Choice & Control

COURSE OVERVIEW:
Choice and Control in Hoarding Disorder is designed to be an educational, interactive and empowering day that works to positively impact participant's active client work and improve outcomes for people who hoard as well as the professionals and others who engage with them.

This one-day course encourages attendees to learn and utilise skills that will generate functional working models which can be improved upon and adapted to their own practice. We will explore the hoarding relationship in the context of the cycle of change and discuss the use of Motivational Interviewing and direct interventions throughout different stages of this process.

METHODS OF DELIVERY:
A PowerPoint presentation works as a prompt to explore live case work and how that interfaces with theory. Exercises are used to launch discussion about participant's on-going work. Video examples provided. A full action plan is developed by the end of the day.




LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Participants should feel that their direct practice has been explored via psychological, practical, and legal information via discussion, video materials and activities.
Participants will:
· Utilise skills versus writing a paper on theory
· Generate functional working models which can be improved upon and adapted to your style and practice.
· Be supported to understand interventions throughout the hoarding relationship
· Explore Motivational Interviewing at different stages of this process
· Be taught interventions which have been shown to improve outcomes

TARGET AUDIENCE
Anyone who directly works with people who hoard.

TRAINING CONSIDERATIONS
Delegates will be expected to be currently engaged with people who hoard.

CERTIFICATION
Upon completion of the course, the delegates will receive a certificate of attendance.
