Support Worker (Outer London)

Central is currently recruiting for a Housing Advice Worker, to work in the Barking & Dagenham area within the probation service. The service provides support to ex-offenders with the aim of preventing tenancy breakdown, improving quality of life and promoting independence.

The successful candidate will be required to work 18.75 hours per week. There is flexibility around what days you choose to work, however working on Friday is preferred. On occasion you will also be required to travel to Ilford for team meetings and supervisions. Cover is required for 1-2 months.

In this position, you will assist with the housing move on of clients from the community and supported Housing into a range of new tenancy tenures. You will need to be able to manage the relationships between landlord and tenant, providing a responsive service to both whilst maintain systems to ensure demand for accommodation can be met appropriately.

To apply for this role, you must have experience of working with medium to high risk offenders under the National Probation Service. You must also have a good understanding of current housing legislation and knowledge around securing private rented tenancies. Specific knowledge around homeless applications is desirable.
