Central is currently recruiting for a support officer to work in the Islington area. The service provides supported accommodation to young people with medium-level complex needs, with the aim of building confidence, community engagement and independent living skills.
The successful candidate will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, working across Monday - Sunday on a rota basis. Shift patterns include: 8AM - 4PM or 12PM - 8PM. Rotas are made every three weeks and you will be expected to work 1 weekend in every 3. Cover is required 4-5 weeks initially, but candidates should be available on an on-going basis. The pay rate for this role is £11.28 per hour.
In this position, you will hold a caseload of clients, creating needs assessment and support plans. You should have experience with housing management, as you will be responsible for processing voids. You will also be supporting young people with their independent living skills, tenancy sustainment and benefits, whilst also providing emotional support.
This role does involve loneworking, so candidates must have previous experience of this, and feel comfortable working in this capacity.

You must also have strong time management skills, the ability to communicate effectively in writing and experience of undertaking customer assessments, support planning and key-working with a clear outcome focus.
Required experience and skills:
- Ability to work independently, taking responsibility for a caseload
- Knowledge and understanding of up to date legislation, government frameworks relevant to the customer group
- Understanding of safeguarding children and adults
- Experience of undertaking customer assessments, support planning and key-working with a clear outcome focus.
- Strong time management skills and ability to prioritise workload.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing
- Ability to contribute to effective team working
- IT skills such as Microsoft Word
- Ability to provide regular monitoring information as required
