Central is currently recruiting for a Specialist Substance Misuse Support Officer, to work in the Camden area. The service provides hostel accommodation to support homeless people with a combination of support needs including Class-A drug use.

The successful candidate will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, working across Monday - Friday, on a rota basis covering shifts of either 8AM - 4PM or 1PM - 9PM. Cover is required for 1-2 months initially, with a possibility of extension. The pay rate for this role is £12.82 per hour.

In this position, you will be focusing on working with customers who have substance-misuse issues. You will not hold a caseload, but you will be expected to do groups and provide 1-1 support to customers. You will be responsible for creating an environment that promotes opportunities for customers to develop, learn and enable skills towards independence. You will work with external agencies to ensure customers are able to access the support they require, and participate in cross-service initiatives.

To apply for this role, you must have experience of working with adults with substance misuse issues, particularly relating to class-A drugs. You must have experience of providing 1-1 support to customers, experience of providing group support and a knowledge around theoretical models of addiction.
