Course Overview


The course details how to build a psychologically-informed environment which leads to enhanced recovery rates for clients along with increased staff morale and retention through delivering personalised treatment and care. This course is an introduction to enacting PIEs and maps the process of: assessment via profiling, observation and consultation; implementation via a 5-point plan and delegation strategy; review - to transition towards sustainment.

Methods of Delivery


The day is a combination of structured input and exercises to enable participants to understand and practice intervention techniques. It is highly interactive and delegates are encouraged to be engaged, fine-tuning their own skills and knowledge of best practice in a safe, supportive environment.

  • Introduce therapeutic techniques staff can use to promote a PIE and lessen confrontation
  • Understand the psychology of buildings and impact on our work
  • Review how policies/procedures foster supportive relationships

Target Audience

Delegates will be expected to be working in the social care and health, criminal justice or psychiatric field.

Training Considerations

PIEs mean services can meet assessment criteria of funders, while at the same time benefiting from improved health, safety and wellbeing in the workplace; service users achieve quicker move-on and a sustained recovery; staff are supported by the structure in place and acquire skills on a path of personal and professional development.
