This course will focus on giving front line staff an overview of good practice relating to the general principles of Infection Control.

Learning Outcomes


By the end of this course, delegates will have covered:
  • Infection risks associated with clients within their homes and in residential settings
  • Microbiology and infection control
  • Identifying and manging common and important infections
  • Organisational issues pertinent to infection control

    The trainer will use a variety of interactive training methods to ensure that delegates develop a thorough understanding of the topics, which they will be able to put to immediate practical use in their workplace. The trainer will employ visual presentations, group exercises and discussions to ensure that all

    General principles of infection control
  • Hand hygiene and the use of personal protective equipment
  • Managing sharps and disposing of waste
  • Managing blood and bodily fluids
  • Decontaminating equipment
  • Universal COSHH procedures
  • Reporting and managing accidents

    • Target Audience

    Frontline care workers or support staff.

    Training Considerations

    This course is a basic induction level training and no prior knowledge of infection control would be required before attending.

    Certification

    Upon completion of the course, the delegates will receive a certificate of attendance.
