Floating Support Worker

Central Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Floating Support Worker, to work in the Islington area. The service provides flexible housing-related support in order to enable clients to continue to live independently within their own home, regardless of tenure type.

The successful candidate will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, working Monday - Friday. Core working hours are 10AM - 5PM, but flexibility is required to occasionally work outside of these hours. Temporary cover is required for approximately 2 months. The pay rate is £14.89 per hour, with £1.80 holiday pay, totalling £16.69 per hour.

Please note: you will be required to travel across the Islington area supporting clients within the community and their own homes.

In this position, you will be required to;
- Hold a small caseload of key clients and carry out person-centered and psychologically informed key working sessions
- Support clients to manage their diagnosis by implementing holistic support strategies that also aim to address their emotional, practical and housing management needs
- Support medication compliance of clients
- Support clients to attend statutory appointments to comply with mental health treatment
- Provide housing advice to clients for them to maintain their tenancies including advising clients of their rights and responsibilities as well as advocating on their behalf if necessary
- Support clients to upskill regarding daily living skills, to enable them to sustain their accommodation independently, including bill management and household management
- Support clients to access activities which will assist them in working towards gaining greater independence within the wider community
- Work in partnership with other departments and external agencies to ensure that client needs are assessed and addressed appropriately
- Ensure all client contacts are recorded appropriately and accurately on the database and in line with policy and procedures.
- Minimise risks to clients by identifying, reporting and following up any safeguarding concerns and incidents.

Please note; this role involves lone working

To apply for this role, you must have;
- Experience supporting people with mental health issues to live independently in the community
- Experience and/or understanding of the range of approaches appropriate to working with issues such as substance use, mental and physical ill health, dual diagnosis, challenging behavior, risk of homelessness, offending, antisocial behavior, social isolation, domestic violence, gang-related issues, young parents, leaving care and learning disabilities.
- Understanding of how to support clients to carry out tasks such as budgeting, calculating benefit entitlements and understanding rent arrears and housing options.
- Experience of working in a client-centred support service working with vulnerable people presenting significant levels of need and risk
- The ability to devise and deliver on action plans through high quality risk management and needs assessment.
- The ability to effectively liaise with a range of service providers and agencies to establish or improve services for clients
- A good and current understanding of safeguarding issues and the ability to undertake comprehensive risk assessments.
- The ability to work within a strength and recovery-based model and engage and motivate people to move towards an appropriate level of independence and inclusion
