Course Overview



This half day course provides an opportunity for all workers who come into contact with service users to explore what is meant by boundaries and good practice and to identify ways in which boundaries can be established and maintained so as to protect both the worker and the service user and also to consider how they can be broken and the consequences of this.

By the end of this course, delegates will have covered:
  • Boundaries and why they are so important
  • Professional requirements in terms of boundaries and good practice
  • How and when to share information
  • How to explain these requirements to a service user
  • Self-disclosure, touch and professional relationships: what you should and shouldn't do
  • Methods of Delivery



    The facilitator will employ a range of teaching methods including direct input, small and large group activities, discussions, use of case study material and PowerPoint slides.

    Target Audience

    This course is relevant for all staff within the organization who produce written documentation in relation to service users. This course can be extended to a whole day if required. This would allow more time for reflection and practice.

    There are no pre-training requirements for this course.

    Upon completion of the course, the delegates will receive a certificate of attendance.
