Course Overview


Central Training's Cultural Diversity and Mental Health training is designed to deepen the candidates' understanding around the different cultural perceptions about mental health in themselves, their co-workers and their clients within a multicultural society with a diverse range of backgrounds and cultural experiences. The trainer will aim to explore how cultural diversity might sometimes challenge but also enrich client work, as well as inform everyday interactions with different cultures and experiences. Finally, the candidates will have the opportunity to discuss the importance of equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace, reflect on the issue of unconscious bias and practice how to navigate challenging situations with clients when cultural difference is present.

Learning Outcomes


The course aims to equip delegates with the skills to:
  • Understand different cultural perceptions towards mental health
  • Explore how culture affects stigma and discrimination
  • Develop understanding around community pressure & expectation
  • Explore our own biases when it comes to cultural understanding, including othering and shame
  • Develop awareness around Unconscious Bias
  • Explore the importance of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion in the Workplace
  • Navigate challenging situations when cultural difference is present
  • Explore how to implement this understanding into our practice and approach
