Managing People in First-Time Employment

Course Overview


This course aims to prepare delegates for managing people in first time employment where individuals may also have lived experience of being a service user. It has been designed to impart the skills and knowledge required to manage people with diverse skill sets but maybe unused to the formal workplace environment. Aimed at first time managers, this course covers the basic skills required in managing individuals who may have additional support needs.


Learning Outcomes

  • This course aims to provide delegates with the skills to:
  • Have difficult conversations in a way which empowers and supports the individual
  • Manage performance issues
  • Identify the learning styles of members of the team
  • Create learning opportunities for team members which are tailored for the individual
  • Promote learning through a variety of methods

This course will use a variety of training methods including: tutor presentation, small group work, co-coaching, reflection and discussion.
