Course Overview



This course provides an opportunity for all workers who come into contact with service users to explore what is meant by boundaries and good practice and to identify ways in which boundaries can be established and maintained so as to protect both the worker and the service user and also to consider how they can be broken and the consequences of this. It also looks at requirements for confidentiality and information sharing in relation to boundaries.

By the end of this course, delegates will have covered:

  • Explaining requirements to a service user
  • Difference between a professional relationship and a friendship
  • Self-disclosure and touch: dos, don'ts and consequences
