Safeguarding Concerns: Recognising & Reporting (Half Day)

Course Overview



The aim of the course is to help staff understand their roles and responsibilities in safeguarding visitors to the Museum. The course will give staff a baseline awareness of policy and procedures regarding safeguarding young people and adults at risk relevant to their role and will draw upon guidance from legislation and best practice.

Learning Outcomes



This course is designed to help delegates:
  • Recognise forms and potential indicators of abuse
  • Develop the skills to sensitively respond to a disclosure or concern
  • Improve practices around recording concerns and disclosures
  • Ensure concerns and disclosures are reported effectively.
  • Ensure high standard referrals are consistently being made to the local authority.

  • Methods of Delivery



    The facilitator will employ a range of teaching methods including direct input, small and large group activities, discussions, use of case study material and PowerPoint slides. Due to the sensitive nature of this course, delegates are encouraged to help create a safe environment in which to explore these issues.
