Course Overview


Central Training's Gender-Informed Approach training examines the specific needs and vulnerabilities of homeless women, and the importance of adjusting support to include a gender-informed approach. The course aims to provide candidates with a deeper understanding of the specific issues affecting this client group, and looks to create a safe and secure environment in order to facilitate trust and change.

Learning Outcomes


The course aims to equip delegates with the skills to
  • Understand the needs of vulnerable, homeless women
  • Explore an overview of reasons why women become homeless
  • Understand that homeless women suffer different trauma to men (loss of children, domestic abuse, security & safety fears)
  • Understand how to create psychologically informed places for homeless vulnerable women; for them to feel secure and for children to visit
  • To create workable house rules for vulnerable women
  • To embed gender-informed approach into everyday work, particularly support planning

This course is very interactive and is designed to give delegates a good overview of the key issues on the agenda. The trainer will employ a mix of group discussion, case studies and visual presentation throughout the day.
