Course Overview


This course has been designed for Managers who are taking a lead role in safeguarding within their team. The programme will be focussed on the practical aspects of recording, reporting and writing referrals to the Local Authority and supplements the one day Safeguarding for Lead Officers training.

Learning Outcomes


This course is designed to help delegates:
  • Analyse case study referrals and identify good and poor practice
  • Practice writing a high quality referral
  • Identify different referral methods required by different Local Authorities and explore how this might impact on practice in different sites across the Museum
  • Describe best practice when working with external agencies including when and how to challenge appropriately, following up referrals, and knowing when to refer directly to the LADO
