Course Overview
Central Training's Harmful Practices Awareness course aims to give an overview of Harmful Practices including female genital mutilation (FGM) and so-called honour based abuse. The trainer's aim is to raise awareness and improve the way in which professionals respond to Harmful Practices. A primary focus will be on identifying risk factors, early intervention and preventative strategies, implementing safeguarding measures, and effective multi-agency collaboration.
Learning Outcomes
This course aims to equip delegates with the skills to: Recognise the different forms of Harmful Practice Explore the impact on victims Identify practice issues and cultural sensitivity/community beliefs Understand human rights and other legislation Assess and manage risk to increase safety of victims Know the resources and support services available Identify triggers and risk indicators for the victim
Methods of Delivery
Attendees are provided with course handouts for use on the day and for future reference. The trainer uses a variety of visual presentation, flipchart work, plenary discussion and subgroup work to ensure that all course objectives are met, while providing a safe, open forum for delegates to exchange views and practices.
