Course Overview


Central Training's Sight Loss & Visual Disability Awareness course aims to equip delegates with the skills and understanding to better support service users who are blind or partially sighted. Drawing on direct personal experience and using the social model of disability, the trainer will explore the impact of sight loss on daily life, offer practical communication tools, and highlight ways to improve accessibility. Delegates will have the opportunity to reflect on how to create welcoming, inclusive environments and make reasonable adjustments for service users with visual difficulties.

This course is designed to enable delegates to:
  • Reflect on the impact of attitudes towards people with visual disabilities
  • Understand the issues faced by people with visual disabilities
  • Develop skills and confidence to communicate effectively
  • Create inclusive environments and make reasonable adjustments

  • Methods of Delivery


    The course will use a range of participative methods including idea-storming, paired and group work, quiz, and practical activities, including guiding practice and Braille taster session. You will be encouraged to learn from one another by sharing experiences from inside and outside the workplace.
