End of Life Care

Course Overview


End of life care incorporates all elements of the daily life of a person nearing the end of their life. The course focuses on the core competencies and principles that is required by everyone whose work includes care and support for people nearing and reaching the end of their lives, whether their primary involvement is health or social care and support-related.

Course Content

  • Develop a broader understanding of palliative and end of life care
  • Understand the national end-of-life programme
  • Consider the principles that underpin the delivery of effective end-of-life care
  • Know how to reflect choice thru needs assessment and advance care plans
  • Understand of the function of multiagency working in end-of-life care
  • Develop support tools for family and carers
  • Understand the importance of effective communication in service delivery

Target Audience

The course relevant to all staff caring for people at the end of life and in particular people working in care homes, housing organisations, other community settings and hospitals as well as people in hospices.

Training Considerations

Delegates should familiarise themselves with any organisational policies and procedures that relates to end of life care and support.

Certification

Upon completion of the course, the delegates will receive a certificate of attendance.
