Understanding Depression - Signs & Symptoms (1/2 Day PM)

Course Overview


This course examines the medical and psycho-social models of mental health and ill health, and thus places depression in its broader context. Different types of depression are looked at as well as the different degrees that they can manifest themselves (mild, moderate and severe). The causes and the signs and symptoms of clinical depression are focused on, as are the treatments, support and self-help appropriate for the condition. This will include time spent on WRAPs and crisis plans. Throughout the course the medical perspective is balanced with the lived reality of people who have this condition.

Methods of Delivery


This course is very interactive and is designed to give delegates a good overview of the key issues on the agenda. The trainer will employ a mix of group work, case studies, a quiz, and visual presentation throughout the day.
