Personality Disorders: Types, Causes, and Support (Half Day)

Course Overview



This half-day course examines personality disorders from a range of perspectives including medical and psycho-social. The concepts of 'normal' and 'abnormal' personalities will be discussed in relation to the pros and cons of this model. The trainer will then focus on the causes of personality disorders, and the core traits of the diagnosis, before moving on to the borderline, narcissistic, and anti-social personality disorders. Delegates will finally be introduced to various options for treatment, support and self-help.

By the end of this course delegates will have covered:
  • The main diagnostic criteria of a personality disorder
  • Key characteristics of the borderline, narcissistic, and anti-social diagnoses
  • Possible causes of personality disorders
  • Treatment pathways and helpful support approaches

    None, although previous Mental Health Awareness training can be beneficial.
