Course Overview This course provides an introduction to LGBTQI+ awareness. You will leave the training with a good understanding of the issues facing LGBTQ+ people today in the UK, and how to ensure that your workplace is inclusive. We concentrate on prejudice and discrimination, where they originate and how they manifest themselves; the consequences of discrimination; and how to challenge and overcome subtle and overt discrimination.

- Global attitudes today: from acceptance and integration to a capital crime
- LGBTQI+ and The Equality Act (2010)
- Coming out and getting old
- The workplace: heterosexism; subtle and overt prejudice and discrimination
- The effects of discrimination: LGBTQI+ and mental health
- Inclusion and good practice at work
Methods of Delivery The course will be delivered by a number of methods, including: a quiz, case studies, group work, PowerPoint presentations, chalk and talk, discussion and debate

- Understand key LGBTQI+ definitions and terminology
- Understand some of the key issues facing LGBTQ+ people in the UK today
- Be aware of how legislation protects LGBTQI+ people in the UK
- Be able to recognise and challenge LGBTQI+-based prejudice and discrimination
- Understand how to integrate LGBTQI+ people into the workplace

The course is suitable for anyone who wishes to gain a good introduction to this subject, or refresh their knowledge and practice
