An Introduction to Psychosis:

Course Overview This half-day course introduces delegates to the topic of psychosis. The course will define the meaning of this term and outline characteristic 'signs and symptoms' of psychosis - voices, visions and unusual beliefs. Causes of psychosis will be explored from both medical and psychosocial perspectives. NICE recommended approaches to treatment will be highlighted and delegates will be encouraged to critique issues of availability, acceptability and choice of treatment from a service user's perspective. Delegates will be introduced to growing evidence supporting the use of psychological and social approaches to psychosis that can promote engagement, self-care and recovery from psychosis.
