Paediatric First Aid in Childcare (2 days)

Course Overview
This comprehensive two-day course provides delegates with the knowledge and practical skills required to respond to a wide range of first aid emergencies involving babies and children.
Delegates will learn how to assess and manage emergency situations, provide appropriate first aid and respond to serious illness and injury. The course covers resuscitation, choking, bleeding, shock, anaphylaxis, head injuries, fractures, poisoning and a range of medical emergencies affecting babies and children.
The course is accredited by the First Aid Industry Body (FAIB) and meets the Paediatric First Aid requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
Learning Outcomes
This course aims to equip delegates with the skills to- Assess and respond appropriately to first aid emergencies
- Provide CPR and respond to an unresponsive baby or child
- Respond to choking, bleeding and shock
- Manage injuries including burns, fractures and head injuries
- Respond to anaphylaxis, seizures and other medical emergencies
- Understand responsibilities for first aid planning, equipment and recording
Methods of Delivery
The course includes practical work and theory, as well as skills practice on CPR and first aid.

Target Audience
Staff working with babies and children in early years and childcare settings who are required to hold the full Paediatric First Aid qualification in line with EYFS requirements.
Training Considerations
Delegates must inform of any injury, illness, physical impairment or pregnancy due to the practical elements of the course. Loose and comfortable clothing is advised for safety and comfort. No prior first aid knowledge is required.
Certification
On successful completion, delegates will receive an FAIB-accredited Paediatric First Aid certificate.
This 12-hour course meets the full Paediatric First Aid requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
