Support Worker 2

Central is currently recruiting for a Support Worker, to work in the Hackney area. The service provides support to clients who have come from a rough sleeping background with vulnerable needs and possible disadvantages.

The successful candidate will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, working across Monday - Friday on a rota basis, covering early (8AM - 4PM) and late (1PM - 9PM) shifts. Temporary cover is required for approximately 2-3 months. The pay rate for this role is £13.38 per hour, with £1.61 holiday pay, totalling £14.99 per hour.

In this position, you will be expected to;
- Hold a caseload of 5 key clients and conduct regular key working sessions resulting in agreed Support Plans which are person centred, outcome focussed and SMART
- Complete comprehensive risk and needs assessments.
- Identifies care pathways and treatment options for clients, and support the acquisition of the skills needed to participate in treatment settings
- Support new residents with all areas of move in to ensure they are made to feel comfortable and are given information concerning their tenure agreement, the local area and other services
- Work in partnership with other departments and external community agencies to meets the needs of clients
- Support clients to work towards gaining greater independence through participation in the service, the organisation and the community
- Support client peers to make recovery visible in the schemes and, where appropriate, to co-deliver activities
- Support clients that may be ready to move into work, education or training by assisting them to access suitable courses or placements.
- Carry out room and building checks and to report and follow up all hazards/repairs/maintenance issues.
- Work with residents to maximise benefit entitlements and secure project income through the collection of rents and charges and the minimisation of arrears and void loss
- Support residents to acquire budgeting skills, and set up basic bank and/or savings accounts

To apply for this role, you must have;
- Experience of working with clients that present a variety of needs including substance use, mental ill health, multiple physical health needs, unmet social care needs, complex trauma, and repeat offending/street based ASB.
- Experience delivering highly personalised assessments, casework and support planning,
- The ability to work intensively with clients, respond calmly to crisis and deal promptly, effectively, safely and creatively to complex and challenging situations
- A strong understanding of the issues that typically disrupt progress in journeys towards independence, such as mental health, substance misuse, self-harm, domestic violence, anger management, learning impairment and frailty due to illness
- An understanding of the Strengths and Recovery model, and the ability to engage, support and motivate clients to progress within a Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE)
- Experience of working in partnership with a range of individuals/agencies to coordinate activities and achieve positive outcomes
