Shelter Coordinator

Central Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Shelter Coordinator, to work in the Lambeth & Southwark areas. The service provides a rotating Winter Night Shelter, and ongoing floating support for up to 6 months to those experiencing homelessness.
The successful candidate will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, working across Monday - Friday. Core working hours are 10AM - 3PM. Flexibility is required to work occasional evenings, weekends, and be part of the on-call rota. This is a fixed term contract for 6 months, with the possibility of transferring to permanent. The salary is £33,529 per annum (pro rata).
Please note: On Wednesdays you will be required to start at 9AM to run the day centre in Elephant and Castle. You have the option to work from home 1-2 days per week.
In this position, you will be expected to; - Oversee the running of our Winter Night Shelter programme - Develop and deliver Team Leader training sessions, update toolkits, policies & guidance / handbooks for the shelter - Lead on creating strong partnerships with participating venues and maintain these relationships - Communicate daily with Team Leaders to ensure the smooth running of the shelter and troubleshoot any concerns - Plan the delivery and collection of beds, bedding, health & safety kits and any donations to the shelters and laundering of bedding. - Monitoring guest attendance and any behavioural issues - Plan, promote and run the Wednesday Club, including rota management of both regular and corporate volunteers - Recruit, induct and support our dedicated volunteers - Ensure food hygiene standards are maintained, and arranging training on this for new regular volunteers - Build and maintain positive working relationships with partner organisations (e.g. shelter venues & team leaders, corporate and general volunteers, other charities) - Lead on collating the annual report
To apply for this role, you must have; - Previous project management experience coordinating a shelter or similar - Empathy with those experiencing homelessness and a desire to make a difference - Strong communication skills, and the ability to work with volunteers and guests who may display challenging behaviour - Excellent organisational and logistical skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks - Ability to work under pressure with drive and enthusiasm for helping others - Good IT skills, including good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, and the ability to record accurate information in a timely fashion - An understanding and commitment to professionality and confidentiality (including GDPR) - Able to work in a flexible and adaptable way, with a creative and solutions focussed approach - Ability to manage budgets
